Q:How long will my system last?
A:The panels we offer come with a 25 year warranty and our systems come with our Lighthouse Lifetime Workmanship Warranty. Most systems are manufactured to last anywhere from 25 to 30 years, but there are many solar energy systems that are much older and still in completely normal operation. Additionally, very little maintenance is required to maintain solar panels.
Q:Is the investment worth the savings?
A:For people who want an effective way to save on their energy utility bills, solar energy systems are really second-to-none. Depending on where you live and the solar panels installed on your home, business, or other property, you could see your energy bill reduced to nothing. Some people even receive energy credits for providing more power than they consume thanks to the high efficiency of our solar panel systems. According to statistics calculated by EnergySage, a partner of the U.S. Department of Energy, New York residents have saved an average of about $15,000 in energy costs since installing their panels 20 years ago. As time goes on, the savings tend to keep increasing, year over year. Is the initial investment worth the savings? In a word: absolutely.
Q:Who do I call if I lose power?
A:You would contact the same utility provider that you would normally call. Your inverter will pick up on the immediate loss of power and stop transferring power from your panels. After your utility provider restores power, your inverter will quickly begin transferring power from your panels again.
Q:What happens if I need to replace my roof and I have a roof-mounted system?
A:Lighthouse Solar has the extensive industry experience needed to answer all of your questions and overcome any challenge related to solar panel systems, including what to do when you have to replace your roof but already have a roof-mounted system. For many of our customers, the solution is as simple as our specialists coming out to temporarily dismantle their roof-mounted solar panel system when they get their home or business re-roofed. Once the renovations are complete, you can depend on us to quickly reinstall the system, good as new.
Q:Won't my panels get damaged during a heavy storm?
A:Our solar panels are state of the art, and designed to withstand all kinds of harsh weather. They can even withstand hail up to one inch in diameter. Not much can be done to protect anything that’s exposed in a massive storm that has the potential to damage your entire roof. That is why we recommend adding your system to your homeowner’s policy.
Q:How much space is my system going to take up?
A:It depends on how much energy your home uses on a regular basis. Our friendly Hudson Valley solar technicians are happy to come out and evaluate just how much energy you use so they can provide you with an estimated number of panels that your home would need.
“We moved to Vermont about a year ago, and lately, we have been thinking about installing panels on our home. I’ve been talking to neighbors about who installed their panels, and their experience with the companies that did the work. In doing so I&rsq”
