We have been more than pleased with our Lighthouse Solar experience. We received other bids, and Lighthouse was competitive. So why did we choose to work with them? It came down to factors such as style, reputation, longevity, size, and quality. Take style first. Lighthouse's people are not slick operators, the way we sensed that others seem to be. Knowledgeable, yes. Sincere, yes. Responsive, yes. Dedicated, yes. How about reputation? Stellar. Check the many 5-star Google reviews and you'll see what I mean. They have done major projects for major players all around the area. Plus, they have earned the highest NYSERDA rating. As for longevity, Lighthouse has been around since 2009. They are not fly-by-night, or here today & gone tomorrow. And, by the way, the people we worked with on our project have been with them for a decade or more. That says a lot. As for size: they are not some huge player. They are local and personal. Our installation crew is their only crew, and they are outstanding. In other words, you get the A team—from the office to the field. Jessica, Matt, Jason, Jay, Ben...and the others we dealt with...everyone is professional, courteous, focused, and smart. Finally, quality. From the materials they specify to the work they do, it's quality all the way. Lighthouse should be proud of what they've achieved. We're delighted to have found them to pursue our solar hopes and dreams. My bet is that you will be, too.

My wife and I had Lighthouse install our new solar panels. From the beginning, they were very professional. They assessed our roof, panel box, and even had a drone to assess the best location for panels. The installation team was efficient and courteous, and got the entire job done in two days. Since installation, we have produced more electric power than we use, giving us electrical credits, and making a substantial impact on the environment. They walk you through all the permits and paperwork for taxes. They were a pleasure to deal with and worth the cost.

Lighthouse Solar put an initial set of solar panels up 4 years ago, and I came back to them to maximize the number of solar panels because both times they have been easy to deal with, clear on the costs and deductions, and the work done has been excellent. Went to them initially because roofers said that they did a careful job of installation and didn't damage the roof as others did. And that has now been confirmed twice. Couldn't be happier with the work.

I'm very pleased with the service and everything from Lighthouse Solar. They did not try to sell me a system for the sake of making money like some other companies wanted to do when I was getting estimates for the first time. They came in and did a solar assessment and were very upfront about what I'd have to do to get the most out of the system and have it cost-effective. After approximately 1-2 yrs., I reached out to them again and had them do the install due to their extreme transparency. I would not hesitate to recommend them if asked. Everyone is extremely helpful, professional, and knowledgeable. The installers were extremely clean and treated my house as if it was their own.

Excellent experience from start to finish. They helped us make a design that matches the aesthetics of our house. The installation workmanship is excellent. They did everything promptly and correctly the first time. They finished before the promised completion date. Easy to work with, and they stand behind their work. I strongly recommend hiring this local contractor instead of a national chain. Friends and family who have hired other contractors reported problems, but we got no grief from Lighthouse Solar. If I buy an electric car, I will hire Lighthouse to expand my system.

After 11 years of solar bliss on my home thanks to Lighthouse Solar, I was ready to add more production with solar on my garage. It was a no-brainer to go with Bryan, Jason, and the entire crew from Lighthouse Solar. Their attention to detail, customer satisfaction, and standing behind their work is phenomenal. Lighthouse is the platinum standard in customer care and quality, in my opinion. They were as flexible in this process as they were 11 years ago. My needs and concerns were always considered and a factor in how the job rolled out. Going solar can be a scary proposition, but with Lighthouse Solar, it has been a breeze and a wonderful experience. As I said in 2012, whenever I have a need for expansion or anything else with my system, Lighthouse Solar is my only choice. Original post from 2012 for reference: In late 2011 I began researching solar for my home. At first, I was looking at leasing from large national companies, but quickly I did not like the sales pitch and push. So I decided to pursue purchasing a system on my own and I contacted local companies to keep the business in the Hudson Valley. After contacting and having conversations with a couple of other local solar businesses, I got in contact with Bryan McGurn at Lighthouse Solar. His level of knowledge and down-to-earth positive attitude and approach immediately engaged me and allowed me to get all of the information that I needed to make an informed decision. There was no question for me, Lighthouse was heads and tails above the rest. From the installation to any advice or follow-ups after the install, they have been nothing but professional, helpful, and prompt. More contractors should take a page out of the book that Lighthouse follows. Eventually, when I want to upgrade or change, I'll go back to Lighthouse in a heartbeat.

If you're looking for an honest solar company that will walk you through the process without being pushy, Lighthouse Solar is who you need to call. I had contacted 5 different solar companies before calling them, and I wish I hadn't wasted my time with the others. Matt was extremely knowledgeable and easily steered me in the right direction. He didn't try to just sell me as many panels as I could fit on my roof. He took the time to explain everything I needed to know and answered all of my questions with ease. The installers were courteous, professional, and efficient. They did a clean job installing everything, and I love the way my panels look on my roof. It was nice that the owner of the company even reached out to me to ensure everything was going smoothly during the whole process. I'm so happy that I chose Lighthouse Solar, and you will be too. I chose Lighthouse Solar to do my solar panel installation after comparing them to three competitors from a list of NYSERDA-approved vendors... I cannot recall the term NYSERDA used. Their estimator, an engineer, was professional and she made sure all my questions were answered. I was provided with clear information on sizing, the installation process, pricing, financing (didn't use it), and other relevant information. All questions were answered. The installation crew was on time and communicated clearly. I was given all needed information regarding coming online. Once online, I had a few questions and minor software problems. My phone calls were answered promptly and my issues were addressed. At a time when the American consumer constantly deals with corporate introduced problems and dismal communications, Lighthouse Solar is a shining example of how well service and communications can be handled. Bravo!

We had an up and running solar panel system with only a shell of a house as everything else was so far behind schedule. They were great to work with!

Exceeded All My Expectations Aug 5, 2022

Lighthouse Solar, of New Paltz, NY, installed my panels in June of 2014. I was extremely satisfied with my interaction with them. I had called several solar companies to obtain estimates; all but Lighthouse Solar just looked at the roof, came into the house, and did a best guess of what they guessed I would need. They also were pushing to lease the panels. I was very skeptical about going solar until Mat from Lighthouse Solar came to give me an estimate. What a difference in professionalism. The first thing Mat did after introducing himself was to get out a ladder, climb up on my roof, and begin to take measurements. After Mat confirmed that it was a good location, we came into the house. He then proceeded to ask to see my electric bill to see how much power we consumed on a yearly basis. Mat then explained the pros and cons of owning and leasing. It became apparent that owning the panels was the best option, even though the out-of-pocket costs were initially more. In the long run, it was better monetarily. After taking down all the information, Mat said he would get back to me with a written proposal. Mat came back about a week later. The proposal was very professional and well done. I am an industrial engineer by profession, and Mat’s proposal was an excellent business case showing the benefits of going solar. It included what all the expenses would be and what the rate of return would be. He said he was conservative on the power the panels would produce. Mat was more than truthful. My production is on average about 35% more than we use. We are very frugal in our electrical usage, and in a way we kind of hurt ourselves because NYSERDA would not let you install more power than you used. Mat suggested installing a high-efficiency heat pump hot water heater so we would be able to install more production. This worked out extremely well. With the electric hot water heater, I was able to turn off my oil burner around the middle of May and keep it off until late October. This saved me a gallon a day of fuel oil. The hot water heater cost $900; I received a $400 rebate from my utility company, and at $3.67 a gallon, the heater paid for itself in the first year. Because of the electric hot water heater and the fuel oil savings, my payback period went from 5 years to 4 years. The installation crew was excellent. They were courteous and professional. They were very careful during the installation, taking care to do an expert installation that would not cause any future problems to the roof. The monitoring system they installed is great. It shows what the system is producing and how much power appliances in the house are using. It is helpful to know the biggest power users so you can manage their use. This year, while looking at the monitoring system, I noticed one of the panels was not producing much power. I called Lighthouse Solar. They responded immediately and sent a team out to determine the problem and came up with a solution to it. This has been a long review, and I usually do not like to write reviews. In this instance, the people at Lighthouse Solar of New Paltz exceeded all my expectations. They delivered more than they said they would. They are responsive to their customers. I have been so impressed with Lighthouse Solar of New Paltz I have recommended them to several of my friends. Thank you, Lighthouse Solar.

Lighthouse Solar was wonderful, from start to finish. Before we even mentioned what we wanted, they made their proposal, which was exactly what we wanted, which none of the competitors seemed interested in doing (we wanted a ground-mounted system). They were there every step of the way, were always a good source of information, and the communication between us and them was terrific. We are very happy with the system, we loved our salesman, and are now obsessed with the phone application that tells you how much energy your system is producing, no matter where you are... Overall, it was a great experience and would highly recommend using this company (and boy, did we do our homework, interviewing about 7 companies, plus this one, before deciding to go with Lighthouse Solar). As an attorney, I understand that this process can be a little overwhelming, especially when you are putting a lot of money into it, but we really felt good about this company and they really tried to put our anxieties at ease and answer all our questions. The only question we have left remaining is: what took us so long?

Lighthouse Solar and everyone on their team that we interacted with was fantastic: Jessica our sales guide, Jordan, Jay and Jay the installers and Jason the owner who came when the process was completed. They all were professional, knowledgeable, helpful, and enthused about solar energy and making it a reality for us at our home. The installation looks great, with an obviously high level of craft at every stage. We are really enjoying the monitoring software that allows us to monitor our energy consumption and production. It's made us even more excited about figuring out ways to scale back our consumption, like using LED lightbulbs in all our light fixtures. Here's a tip: we bought LED lightbulbs through Central Hudson, claimed a rebate, and caught a sale which made them $1 per lightbulb! I can't say enough good things about our experience with Lighthouse Solar! Total professionals with a no pressure sales attitude.
